Three times - three times - in the last week, an adorable under-10 person has stopped whatever they were doing and run after me to say....."Hi." Once I was on my bicycle and a little guy in cowboy boots and a tie ran over to the side of the road and said "Hi!!!!!" with a giant wave.
Another afternoon, I was running through the park. A little girl near the path stopped playing soccer with her friend - literally dropped her ball, RAN over to me, stopped and looked at me - and said..."Hi!!!!" again with the giant wave. I got the big "Hi!!!!" from another kid on the train, too.
Then again, there was also a woman who asked me for some change. When I said I didn't have any (I didn't) and offered her some food instead, she responded with, "Stick it up your ******, you ****!"
So you know, I guess it takes all kinds.
